'Shadowhunters' TV Series: Season 2 Will Have 20 Episodes, Jace And Clary Romance To Continue?

"Shadowhunters" season 1 has already ended, but fans of the TV show version of Cassandra Clare's "The Mortal Instruments" book series will be happy to learn that it will return with more episodes than the first run.
Those who want to see more of Clary (Katherine McNamara), Jace (Dominic Sherwood), Isabel (Emeraude Toubia), Alec (Matthew Daddario), Magnus (Harry Shum Jr.) and Simon (Alberto Rosende), among others, will see them in action in 20 episodes next season. McNamara shared the news on Twitter.
Apart from the episode count, the direction the new season will head towards has also been teased. Showrunner Ed Decter told TVLine that the new season will still be faithful to the core of the books, but they will make adjustments in order to tell the story visually.
"The goal in the writers' room is to make the fans feel like we're not going to end up in the place they're expecting, then surprise them with how we get there," Decter said. "We try to keep some surprises for the hardcore fans who initially ask 'What are they doing? Why are they doing this?' The hope is that they eventually come to a point where they say, 'Oh, I get it. I see what they were doing before.'"

Decter also teased what will happen to Jace and Clary now that they know that they are siblings.
"While they are brother and sister, despite the fact that they have these odd feelings, they are chaste," the showrunner said. "There's a moment with the Seelie Queen, but that's a little different; we'll save that for the viewers. But Jace and Clary are definitely confused as to why they feel this way, which is a big point of tension in the books."
"Shadowhunters" season 2 has not been given an air date.
