"Grey's Anatomy" season 12, episode 17, "I Wear the Face" highlighted the tension between April (Sarah Drew) and Jackson (Jesse Williams) and the rift between Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Riggs (Martin Henderson).

As was teased, Jackson's mom Catherine (Debbie Allen) shook things up between the estranged couple. Catherine tried to convince Jackson to sue April for fraud. Jackson did not like the idea. Catherine's husband, Richard (James Pickens, Jr.), was also averse to it. Catherine eventually changed her mind, but not before April heard her and Richard talking about the plan.

April told Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) about what she heard. Arizona, who's still at April's mercy for telling Jackson about the baby, said they would figure out how to deal with it together. April apparently already taken a step forward, though, and filed a restraining order against Jackson. She did it so quickly, she didn't even manage to see the crib Jackson bought for their child.

The tension between the estranged couple has increased just as much as the rift between Owen and Riggs widened.

Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) tried to ask Owen to cut Riggs some slack, saying he tried to come with Owen's sister before she died in a helicopter crash. Owen was appalled by what he heard, though, and told Meredith what he knows.

"Meredith, he didn't say anything to her," Owen said. "He wasn't anywhere near that chopper! He was off screwing some woman."

Owen also confronted Riggs and said that Megan told him about Riggs' cheating ways.

"You can't just come in here and pretend to be some nice guy, pretend to be his hero and lie and fool everyone like Grey and Bailey and Pierce and Amelia," Owen said. "You can't just take more people away from me. You can't do it, and I won't let you."

Riggs wanted to answer Owen but he was already out.

The tension will continue to rise in the next episode, which will be a 2-hour special.

"After a missing child forces the hospital into lockdown, Ben decides to operate on a pregnant mother without the proper surgical equipment. Miranda, as Chief, is faced with the repercussions of the event and whether or not Ben's impulsive actions were justified."

The second-half of next week's two-part special will see some hope for April and Jackson.

"Miranda continues to deal with the aftermath of Ben's reckless decisions and forms an advisory committee to recommend proper disciplinary action against him. Meanwhile, April and Jackson try to put their differences aside for the sake of their baby, and Arizona makes a decision that could affect her relationship with Callie forever."

"Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursdays, 8 p.m. on ABC.
