The 2016 MTV Movie Awards are set to air on April 10, and plenty of high-profile stars will be duking it out to see who will win the award for Best Hero.
Whether you're a loyal Marvel fan or a die-hard "Star Wars" nerd, make sure that you check out our list of the nominees for Best Hero, and let us know who you want to see take home the award.
1. Charlize Theron
The Independent praised Theron's performance in "Mad Max: Fury Road" by pointing out that her character Furiosa is "as every bit mad and bad" as the titular character Max himself.
Given the fact that Furiosa is a tough female character who can match Max Max blow for blow, there is a good chance that Theron will walk away with the award for Best Hero.
2. Chris Evans
Even though "Avengers: Age of Ultron" garnered mixed reviews from critics such as NPR, many Marvel fans adore Evans because he takes the time out to truly understand the character's backstory in order to bring him to life.
For example, Cinema Blend added that Evans only made one request of director Joss Whedon while filming "Age of Ultron" and that was to keep Steve Rogers/Captain America's powers consistent.
Given the fact that many fans loved Evans' portrayal of Captain America and how popular the Marvel Cinematic Universe is, it is highly likely that he will be named the Best Hero of 2016.
3. Daisy Ridley
Glamour praised Ridley's performance as the heroine Rey in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." They pointed out that even though Rey is self-sufficient, she's not afraid to ask for help.
Glamour also noted that Ridley's performance kept Rey from turning into a stereotype of a "strong female character" and brought a layer of vulnerability to the role.
Since Ridley is a newcomer to the film industry, it would be nice to see her take home an MTV Movie Award on April 10.
4. Dwayne Johnson
Critics such as SCMP and Variety tore Johnson's film "San Andreas" to shreds by pointing out that the story followed the same old formula about a beefy hero trying to save his loved ones during a natural disaster.
However, since Johnson is still beloved by "Fast and Furious" fans, there is a chance that he could take home the prize during the 2016 MTV Movie Awards.
5. Jennifer Lawrence
Entertainment Weekly praised Lawrence's performance as the heroine Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two" and noted she was "an unstoppable force" in the film.
Given the fact that "The Hunger Games" franchise still has plenty of loyal fans and Lawrence is beloved by Hollywood, she is a strong contender in the race to win Best Hero.
6. Paul Rudd
The Atlantic praised "Ant-Man" for embracing the stereotypical silly comic book hero origin story and pointed out that Rudd's gave a charming performance as Dr. Hank Pym.
Since the Marvel Cinematic Universe is so popular and many critics gushed over Rudd as Ant-Man, he might very well walk away with the award for Best Hero.
The MTV Movie Awards will air on Sunday, April 10, at 8 p.m. ET.
