At the 2016 MTV Movie Awards, Jennifer Lawrence beat out contenders such as Chris Evans and Daisy Ridley for the Best Hero award.
If you are a fan of Jennifer Lawrence, then check out our list of the three reasons why we're happy that she took home the award.
3. Lawrence Is A Fantastic Actress
Critics such as Entertainment Weekly praised Lawrence's performance in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" and noted that she was "an unstoppable force" in the film.
Lawrence expertly brought the heroine Katniss Everdeen to life during the film and kept the character from turning into the usual stereotype of a "strong female warrior."
Instead, the talented actress brought a layer of complexity to the role and did a wonderful job of showing Katniss's struggle to end the war with President Snow.
While the other contenders for the Best Hero award are all fine actors, Lawrence stole the show in "The Hunger Games."
2. It's Nice To See A Woman Win
The Daily Mail pointed out that male actors usually dominate the award for best hero and it is a breath of fresh air to see a talented actress walk away with the prize.
Winning the best hero award also showed Hollywood that women can be popular action stars and this could inspire directors to make future films featuring complex heroines.
One. It Dispels The Negative Stereotypes Of Young Adult Fiction
Many critics have dismissed young adult fiction in the past and claimed that many of the stories have no substance.
However, Lawrence taking home the award for best hero proved that "The Hunger Games" had a compelling storyline that resonated with viewers of all ages and backgrounds.
