'American Gods’ TV Show: Tom Hiddleston As Low-Key 'Loki' Liesmith? 3 Possible Actors For Role

If you've read Neil Gaiman's "American Gods," then you know that the mysterious inmate Low-Key Liesmith becomes a major player by the end of the novel.

**WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD**

The protagonist Shadow Moon is shocked to discover that his former friend and fellow inmate Low-Key is actually an incarnation of the Norse god Loki. He was also working with Mr. Wednesday to start a war between the old gods and the new.

3. Graham McTavish

McTavish appeared Jamie Fraser's uncle Dougal MacKenzie on STARZ's hit television show "Outlander," and his role on the show proved that he excels at portraying a conniving yet sympathetic character.

Since Dougal's story comes to a close in "Outlander" season two, McTavish would certainly be free to appear on STARZ's adaption of "American Gods."

2. Mark Pellegrino

Best known for playing the role of the fallen angel Lucifer on the CW's "Supernatural," Pellegrino definitely has the acting chops required to play such a sly character like Loki.

However, even though Lucifer was technically a villain, Pellegrino added a sympathetic layer to the character. While many fans hated Lucifer, they were also intrigued by his backstory and motivations.

Loki was also described as an older man and IMDb noted that Pellegrino is 50 years old, which makes him a perfect fit for the role.

1. Tom Hiddleston

Hiddleston previously appeared as Loki in Marvel's "Avengers" and the first two "Thor" films. However, Hiddleston's Loki was more of a sympathetic antihero than a villain.

It would be interesting to see the talented actor appear in "American Gods" as a more sinister version of the Norse god.
