The 2016 MTV Movie Awards are right around the corner, and we cannot wait to see who takes home this year's awards!

One category we are dying to find out the winner of is Breakthrough Performance.

There are a wide variety of performers and genres included in this year's nominees. The choices are Amy Schumer for "Trainwreck," Brie Larson for "Room," Daisy Ridley for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Dakota Johnson for "Fifty Shades of Grey," John Boyega for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and O'Shea Jackson Jr. for "Straight Outta Compton."

Check out the top three reasons why Dakota Johnson should take home the award for Breakthrough Performance below!

3. The movie is completely unique.

Johnson should be awarded for her work not only for her performance, but because the film stands alone as well.

Not to invalidate any of the other movies, but many of them have been done before. There are always numerous science-fiction movies, like "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," and there are too many romantic comedies, like "Trainwreck," to count.

"Fifty Shades of Grey," however, stands out from the rest, since it is a film that focuses on a BDSM relationship. This type of film is different than the nominees and any other movie released in the last year, so it should be awarded for that.

2. The critics agree.

Of course, all of the actors and actresses are extremely talented, but Johnson's performance was the one to remember, and the critics seemed to agree.

In one review from Vulture, specifically, Johnson was praised for her stellar performance as Anastasia.

"Her gift...is for achieving emotional transparency while looking nothing like a trained actress. But the craft is there. Johnson doesn't so much speak her lines as float them, removing the sharp notes so that Anastasia can seem both intelligent and strangely unassertive - the sort of smart, unformed woman who'd be irresistible to a man with a compulsion to dominate," David Edelstein of Vulture wrote.

1. The role was exceptionally challenging.

Every role requires the actor or actress to completely transform into another human being, but this had to be the most difficult for Johnson.

As "Fifty Shades of Grey" fans know, Johnson played the role of Anastasia, who begins a BDSM relationship with a businessman she barely knows.

The fact that Johnson's breakout role was one where she needed to be nude and completely let down her walls to be comfortable performing these sexual acts on camera in front of millions of people definitely means that she deserves an award.

The 2016 MTV Movie Awards air Sunday, Apr. 10, at 8 p.m. EST on MTV.
