The 2012 Billboard Awards Will Honor Whitney Houston

This year’s Billboard Awards airing this Sunday, May 20th at 8pm on ABC, is planning a tribute to honor Whitney Houston. A Millennium Award will also be awarded to her legacy said to be accepted by Whitney’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, and her sister-in-law Pat Houston. Can someone tell me why Pat is involved? I know this is an honoring moment but Bobbi Kris is no child, she could obviously accept this award on her own, something tells me she didn’t ask for Pat to shadow her.

Let me be more specific…I don’t know much about Pat Houston, who was once Whitney’s manager, but the vibe I got from her during the Oprah Winfrey interview wasn’t the best. Her recollections leading up to Whitney’s death seemed off but more than that something about her didn’t come off very genuine. There were also claims that the reason Bobbi Kris stood the whole 5 minutes of her interview was because she didn’t want to do it, I wonder why she did the interview anyway? Hmmmm.

Now Pat along with her husband and daughter (who tried to get some shine on the interview), Bobbi Kristina and Cissy Houston have signed on for a Lifetime network reality show not even six months after Whitney’s passing. D you smell that? Something in the sauce isn’t fresh...

Three months after Whitney Houston’s death, her family has signed on to do a reality series. Lifetime has picked up The Houston Family Chronicles, an docu-series that will follow the lives of Pat Houston, Whitney’s sister-in-law and manager, and including Pat’s daughter Rayah, Whitney’s brother Gary, daughter Bobbi Kristina and mother, Grammy Award-winning singer Cissy Houston, as they try to pick up the pieces after her untimely death. Pat Houston manages the business and estate of the late pop star. The series will follow Pat and her husband, Gary as they try to support Whitney’s teenage daughter Bobbi Kristina. In that, Pat enlists the help of her and Whitney’s inner circle, including Grammy Award winner Dionne Warwick and Gospel legend CeCe Winans. “The tragic loss of Whitney Houston left a void in the hearts of people all over the world, but certainly none more so than her beloved family,” said Lifetime’s EVP Rob Sharenow. “In this series, the multi-generations of the Houston family will bravely reveal their lives as they bond together to heal, love, and grow.”

Pat Houston said that over the past few years she had been developing a project about her and her family with producers Tracey Baker Simmons and Wanda Shelley. “The unexpected passing of Whitney certainly affects the direction of the show,” she said. “However, it is my hope that others will be enlightened as they watch our family heal and move forward.” Lifetime has ordered ten hour-long episodes of The Houston Family Chronicles, which will premiere later this year. Jarrett Creative will produce. Julie Insogna-Jarrett, Seth Jarrett, Tracey Baker Simmons, Wanda Shelley and Pat Houston will serve as executive producers.
Can you say capitalizing?!! If it weren’t for Whitney these people wouldn’t get a show, maybe Bobbi Kris but definitely not Pat, and I am beyond shocked that Mrs. Houston would agree as well. There is too much going on too soon in my lil ole opinion…

Anywho Whitney is very deserving of any and every award in her honor, I will be tuned in to the Billboard Awards and this new reality show. There are more than a few reports that Bobbi Kris will participate in the tribute there is no word yet whether her participation is vocally...we shall see, tune in this Sunday on ABC!
