Amare Stoudemire informed People Magazine that he is now engaged to his long time love of 10* plus years along with the details of the proposal and rang size…

Stoudemire asked Welch for her hand in marriage while overlooking the Eiffel Tower lights outside of their penthouse at Le Meurice Hotel Belle Etoile Royal Suite at 11 p.m. local time. He surprised her with a dinner after they spent the day taking a private historical tour of Paris that included stops at the Louvre and other landmarks.
"I have been planning my proposal for a while and overlooking the entire Paris skyline seemed like a perfect place. I am so happy she said 'yes,' and now we can continue to build our life together as husband and wife," Stoudemire told PEOPLE from Paris.
Stoudemire designed the 8.5-carat radiant-cut ring, worth more than $1 million, with Los Angeles-based celebrity jeweler Shayan Afshar. The setting has 3.50 carats of flawless diamonds set in 18-carat white gold.
The couple met in 2002 after Stoudemire was drafted with the Phoenix Suns. They plan to wed in 2013.
Let me first say congrats to Amare and his soon to be wife Alexis…
Now I am all for making amends and moving on but I don’t know if I could be so up front and public about a proposal like this when this same man was up front and very public when he left me for a R&B singer and God knows who else. I know we shouldn’t care what others think but the speculation of what others think, when you are a public figure or in a relationship with a public figure, can become so bothersome that it could potentially ruin the union. The speculation could be true or false but the knowledge of the whole world knowing how your man dogged you or thinking he did when he didn’t could drive a woman mad.
Take me for example, I don’t know what made Amare leave but because of his reputation and the fact that he was with Alexis for yearsssss then popped up with Ciara then dumped her not more than a year ago and ran back to Alexis makes me think he is a freaking scum bag. But who knows, maybe she had issues that she needed to fix that he wasn’t okay with or she cheated…you never know. But for now I am going to speculate that he is a scum bag, along with about a million other people, while stories about him leaving Alexis for Ciara overshadow the joy of their engagement.
Some things you should keep to yourself and let nosee people like myself speculate it… but something tells me Amare went with this information because of his past actions.
