" The Vampire Diaries " star Ian Somerhalder recently confirmed at a convention that was held in Nashville on Saturday that the show is going to end after season eight. Entertainment Weekly  reported that Somerhalder appeared at the Walker Stalker convention in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday and admitted " The Vampire Diaries " season eight will be the final season.
